Hello! Thank you for taking the time to check out my site. It is my hope that you will find new, helpful and entertaining information that will leave you better equipped to succeed in life than before you arrived here. Be sure to subscribe to my email list before you leave, so as to not miss out on any new content. I will be adding new material as often as I can.
My name is Patrick Martin. I am a Psychotherapist/Social Worker/Advocate/Case Manager (our kind wear a lot of hats!). I studied at Loma Linda University and earned a Master’s degree in both Social Work and Criminal Justice.
I am certified as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist through the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. I also have certifications in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (an intervention for those suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder), in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (for treatment of depression) and in the Seeking Safety model (for treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Chemical Dependence.
Though the MHT Blog, Podcast, YouTube Channel, online courses and offerings, I aim to share my experience in full measure, in an effort to be of service to the community with a subject matter that is all too often misrepresented, stigmatized, or just plain overlooked.
I practice full-time as a mental health therapist (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). As such, I service a wide range of clientele from various backgrounds, socioeconomic class, and mental health status (Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Depression, Life Transition…you get the idea).
I am also contracted with the Superior Court, as a mental health professional, recruited by attorneys to conduct assessment for the court and provide recommendations.
I have a private practice, conducting tele-health services.
In addition to the delivery of direct mental health services to the general public , I have experience in working directly with foster youth, gang youth, the homeless and those with co-occurring diagnoses (substance abuse).
In my day job, my regular schedule consists of conducting psychological assessments, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, consultation, case management and community outreach.
In the years that I have been practicing, I have learned of the many unique struggles of the human condition, and the many interventions for targeting their specific needs (and I am continuing to learn daily). It is my hope that through the project of this site, I can share with you valuable information with real life applications.
On a more personal note, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two girls, learn life-hacks for being more productive, working on my blog, podcast and YouTube Channel, all to raise mental health awareness and teach actionable coping skills, and researching ways to live healthier.
ASK: If you have a question you’d like me to answer here on the blog (even if you think it’s a silly one!), please use the form on the CONTACT ME page, or the comment section below. I would be happy to take a poke at it and provide a long form answer when appropriate.
SHARE: Also, be sure to share it with a friend, as there is still a lot of work to be done in raising mental health awareness.
