The Silent Struggle: Men's Mental Health and the Power of Conscious Parenting | Silva Badalian

Hi! I’m Silva. From a young age, I was fascinated by psychology and the human condition. So, I went to school to become a psychotherapist. Since 2004, I have helped numerous children and adults suffering from different mental health conditions and parenting issues. After losing a loved one to suicide, I realized more than ever how important it is for men to seek help. It is no surprise that the national statistic indicates that men die by suicide at a much higher rate than women. This is partly due to mental health going untreated. I believe this number can be lower if we destigmatize men’s mental health issues and provide a place to get help.
I’ve experienced the difficulty of dealing with mental health issues firsthand. In 2015, I was suffering from a lot of anxiety, which was affecting my work and my social life. I started therapy to work on myself. I also found a meditation center and I learned mindfulness and meditation. I started meditating daily, which helped with the anxiety and changed my life for the better. In 2020, I did inner child healing work for myself. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Because of my own mental health struggles and positive experiences with mindfulness and inner child work, I’m passionate about helping others by instilling hope and giving the tools needed for healing. I believe that with hope and healing, you can have a new beginning!
While I’m compassionate and supportive, I also have a directive approach in sessions. Often clients say they like my “Give it to me straight!” approach. Because of this, I generally work with clients for six to eight months. This straight-forward approach is not for everyone, as some need long-term therapy. If you believe this is a good fit for you and we work together, I will first help you understand the underlying reasons for your suffering and unhealthy patterns. Then, I will give you the tools and techniques you need to start feeling better. Essentially, my goal is to empower you to become your own therapist.
